Thomas B. Mitchell

Tom has 20 + years of experience in the mental health field in a variety of settings. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and recognized as a Board Approved Supervisor. He is trained in a variety of evidence based therapeutic interventions including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD).

After 4 years in the United States Air Force Tom received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston and subsequently received a Master Degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. Over the last 45 years, Tom has been involved in the creation of many innovative programs including Assertive Community Treatment and Mobile Crisis Outreach Team within the Harris County system. He also spent 12 years working with Military Veterans recovering from Post-Traumatic Stress. Tom was a founding member of the Texas Judicial Commission on Mental Health appointed by the Texas Supreme Court and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Tom brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our suburban community. He has special interests in trauma and veterans’ treatment. He sees individuals, couples, and families.
